Your very first journal is created during the initial onboarding process when you first open the app. If you already have a journal and want to create another one, Waffle allows you to add as many as you like. Simply look for the journal icon with the + sign located in the top right corner of your screen and tap it to begin.
Personalizing your journal
Once you start the process, you will go through a short onboarding sequence to tailor the journal to your needs. You will be prompted to specify the following:
Who you will journal with: define if this is a solo venture or a shared space.
Age range: select your applicable age bracket.
Gender: specify your gender identity.
Your history with journaling: share your level of experience.
How Waffle can help you: identify your primary goals for using the app.
Your intention: write out your personal intention for journaling in your own words.
Journal Name: give your new journal a unique title.
Sharing the code: you will be given a journal code to share with others. However, you can skip this step if you prefer. The code can be found at any time in your journal settings.
Finishing the setup
After you have moved through the personalization steps, there is one final physical gesture required to seal the deal.
Note: if this is your first journal, please make sure you finish the onboarding and sign in to finish the setup
Journal settings
Once your journal is set up, you have full control over its configuration. Here is a guide on how to access and manage your journal settings.
How to access journal settings
To customize your journal, follow these steps:
Open the specific journal you wish to manage.
Tap on the journal's name located at the very top of the screen.

View the Daily Waffle questions decks.
Update Journal Preset: adjust the initial configuration or style of your journal.
Export Journal: save your entries externally.
Local Backup: enable or disable a backup of your data on your device.
Toggle notifications on or off to stay updated.
Leave or delete your journal.
Some of these features, such as exporting and specific customization options, are exclusively available in the Plus version of the app. To learn more about Plus features, please see this article.
Leaving vs. deleting a journal
If you decide you no longer wish to participate in a journal, you have two options depending on your role:
Leave Journal: If you leave a journal, your account will be removed from it, but the journal remains active and available for all other existing members.
Delete Journal: This option is only available if you are the creator of the journal. Deleting the journal will remove it entirely for everyone; it cannot be recovered once it is gone.
