Collaboration in a journal is managed through unique invite codes. This ensures that only authorized users can access and contribute to your shared entries.
How to invite someone to your journal
Each journal has a unique invite code to keep your space safe and private.
During onboarding: an invite code is generated while you're onboarding. You can share it immediately or wait until you’re ready.
Finding the code later: if you want to invite someone later, just open your journal and tap on its name at the top to open the settings. From there, tap + Add members to see your code.
Note: for the code to work, the journal creator needs to finish the entire onboarding process first.
How to Join a Journal
If you’ve received a code, you can jump into the journal using one of two methods:
From the login screen:
Tap Join Existing.
Enter the invite code.
Note: your request to join won't actually be processed until you log in to the app after sending it.
From the main menu:
Tap the Journal Icon with the "+" sign in the top right corner.
Select Join Existing.
Enter the key provided by the journal creator.
Leaving and removing members
We want Waffle to be a judgment-free space where you feel completely secure about what you share. Because of this, our rules on membership are a little different:
Can I remove someone from my journal? Right now, we don't have a feature that lets you remove someone from your journal. They own what they write, so if they need to go, they have to decide to leave on their own.
Why this rule? This is in place to make sure everyone feels secure about the entries they put time into writing, without fearing someone else might remove their contributions.
If your invite code doesn't work, please feel free to check this article.
Still need a hand? We’re always here to help. Send feedback from the app or reach out to us at [email protected].
